The Hohenwerfen adventure castle towers over the Salzach Valley on a 155-meter-high, striking rock. The ancient building has stood there for around 900 years. At around 40 km from the city of Salzburg, Hohenwerfen Castle is an ideal, varied destination for a day trip. The castle is majestically surrounded by the mighty mountain ranges of the Tennengebirge and Hagengebirge. The castle complex is a “sister castle” to Hohensalzburg Fortress and also dates back to the 11th century.

Journey to Hohenwerfen Adventure Castle
You can reach Hohenwerfen Adventure Castle from one of your Amadeus Hotels by car in around 40 minutes. From Salzburg’s old town, take the Pass-Lueg-Straße / Salzachtal exit on the A10. You can get to your excursion destination in Salzburg’s Tennengebirge mountains quickly and easily by public transport with the S3 or the Postbus.
